Paint, teach, yoga, repeat.
It may sound like a mouthful. Yet I feel incredibly lucky to have found what I am good at, my true passions in life. In every one of these three areas, I have delved into the deep-end.
I grew up surrounded by art in Florence, Italy, and educated in the French school system. I attended the University of St Andrews in Scotland where I read History and received my MA(hons). My artistic ‘itch’ led me to pursue a Foundation and then a full-time Masters in Fine Art at the historic City and Guilds of London Art School.
I began to discover my love of teaching when leading tours and workshops at the Saatchi Gallery in London. This led me to apply to work at Falkner House School, where I am now Head of Art and teach both art and art history to children of all ages.
All-the-while, yoga happened. Why? Because, like so many of us, I struggled with depression and anxiety. I embarked on my yoga journey over a decade ago and began to discover, simply put, what true happiness might feel like. I feel utterly inspired, almost obliged, to share this with others.
And so, I completed my 200 hour Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training with Alina Bialek in 2023, earning recognition from Yoga Alliance Professionals as a Yoga Teacher. I teach public, private and corporate classes and hope to one day host retreats that incorporate the benefits of both art and yoga.
Both art and yoga bring the mind into the present moment and into the body. Once there, we can truly live rather than wait to live. I believe in moderation and not being too hard on ourselves, and that we don’t need strict routines to navigate this chaotic world. Rather, we learn to build trust, in ourselves, our bodies and in the universe. We enjoy the ride, breathe through difficult situations and learn the stuff we’re made of.
