I painted the same face, similar to my own face, over and over again, on delicate Japanese paper, changing colours according to my mood. I scrunch up each painting before having time to take a good look at it, then nail it to the wall or canvas. The resulting sculptural forms both reveal and conceal. There is a lot of me, a lot Iā€™m trying to say, but only peeks and traces are discernible, a distortion. I like that they look floral, or like mushrooms or growths.
